Iditarod Start Tour
Day 1 - February 28, 2024
Your trip begins with your own, separately booked flights and travel to Anchorage, AK. Red Lantern Tour Co. will officially meet up at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in downtown Anchorage, just moments away from the action and excitement of the week's events.

The RLTCo. group will all join together for a welcome dinner at The Glacier Brewhouse to kick off an exciting week ahead. A return to the hotel early allows ample preparation for the long and thrilling day ahead.
Day 2 - February 29, 2024
Experience the thrill of Alaska on Day 2. Your adventure starts with a dog sledding tour. After a meet and greet with the dogs, many of whom have done the Iditarod Sled Dog Race several times, you’ll take to the twists and turns of Alaska's winter trails on custom-made tour sleds. You can take in the sights as a passenger on the sled or help your guide drive the team.
After dog sledding, you'll exchange dog sleds for snowmobiles for some full-throttle fun! An expert guide tailors the time on the trail to the needs and abilities of the group making this ideal for novice and advanced riders. After a safety briefing, we’ll explore Alaska over hills, along groomed trails and through powder.
Lunch is included with the afternoon's adventures.

Finish the evening with a group dinner at Club Paris restaurant to recount your mushing adventures with the group.
Day 3 - March 1, 2024
Enjoy the best of Alaskan food and drink on Day 4 with our Anchorage brewery tour. With stops at King Street Brewing Co., Midnight Sun Brewing Co., Cynosure Brewing, and Turnagain Brewing, you will enjoy four hours and at least 14 different beer tastings, as well as a selection of specialty appetizers.
The day concludes with the Iditarod Gala Banquet. An evening designed to commemorate the history of the Last Great Race, there is no better way to build anticipation for the next day's main event.
The evening’s highlight reel includes a premier screening of a short film featuring a historical retrospective, pre-dinner “fireside chats” with Iditarod Alumni, and an exciting silent auction.
Day 4 - March 2, 2024
The pinnacle of the trip is Day 4: the Ceremonial start of the 2024 Alaska Iditarod. Our day begins in the morning with a light breakfast before heading out to town. The heart of all the action is 3rd Avenue, where teams are preparing and dogs are anxiously awaiting their time to cross under the famous starting arch.

After seeing the mushers and dogs, we will take a few moments for photos underneath the 50th anniversary arch before taking our place at the start line to watch the ceremonial launch. Each of the 50 mushers begin two minutes apart, so it is nonstop action and excitement from the moment the first team pulls away.

- Town is in full excitement

After all teams have departed, it's time for the Running of the Reindeer. One of Fur Rendevous’ most popular and curious spectacles, the Running of the Reindeer is a three-block dash down 4th Avenue between D and G Streets. Essentially it's a play on Pamplona, Spain's running of the bulls tradition. Over the years it has raised more than $100,000 for Toys for Tots and provided untold thrills for participants and spectators. Start mentally preparing now if you wish to be among the dashers. Having antlers rushing up behind you is more intimidating than you would expect...
Day 5 - March 3, 2024
The final day of your Alaskan adventure marks the proper Iditarod race start. Venturing out an hour and a half to the village of Willow, AK for the event, the day begins with breakfast and perusing the assemblage of vendors. From here we will watch the teams head out from Willow onto the rest of the Iditarod journey.

The day concludes with a group dinner and trip recap at Sullivan's Steakhouse in downtown Anchorage before farewells and a return to the hotel.
