Unfortunately, as the race barrels on it means our first Iditarod Start Tour based in Anchorage has come to an end. Our guests had rave reviews. The visit to Snowhook Adventures was a huge hit and they were awarded VIP access at the ceremonial start in Anchorage and restart the following day in Willow. What could be better than witnessing the start of the Iditarod with a veteran musher at your side?
Our guests even got to serve as Musher Handlers and mingle with some of the biggest names in the 2023 Iditarod Race.
Race Update!
A couple days in and the majority of the teams are in and out of Rohn as they make their way quickly along the Iditarod trail. Everyone seems to be wondering how the smaller field will impact the 2023 Iditarod race. At the time of writing this Ryan Redington sits in the lead, with Jessie Holmes and 2022 winner Brent Sass a short half hour behind. We also had our first scratch of the race with Jennifer LaBar dropping out of the race in Rainy Pass.
On top of the smaller participant list in 2023, the Iditarod race has a lot of big names missing from this year - Aaron Burmeister, Ally Zirkle, Dallas & Mitch Seavey, and the late, great, Lance Mackey. Lance brother Jason is back in the race which is quite a comeback story in itself. Anchorage Daily News did a great article on his resurgence that we highly recommend.
We love to see our good friend Matt Hall sitting in 10th place! I highly recommend you check out his seat down with our lead guide Seth Barnes in our Musher Meets series!
